Actually, It’s All About You…
…and your family, of course!
We welcome families with children of ages 0 – 6 years and there’s nothing we love more than to see children spending time in TurtleDove with mum, dad, granny & grandad, and family friends!
You will need to book your visit to TurtleDove now.
There is a ‘Book Now’ button on our Home Page and each session lasts for 90 minutes. Last booking of the day can be made for 3pm.
Due to Government Guidelines, unfortunately we cannot allow the use of our soft play. As soon as an announcement is made, and guidance changes, it will be brought back for use.
We pride ourselves on a home from home atmosphere.
Grown-ups can enjoy a delicious coffee, and children get to
engage in some free play.

What’s On at TurtleDove Play Cafe?
Please bear with us as we get back up & running!
We are following Government Guidelines and some activities & events are postponed for now. We hope they’ll be scheduled again very soon!
There’s a whole range of regular classes and activities scheduled each month, including lots of fun things that are free with entry to the cafe such as face-painting, crafts and cookie decorating. Our events calendar is updated monthly with regular classes such as Boogie Beats and we also host evening classes for adults such as First Aid, Fitness sessions or private events.
Each year we host two Halloween parties, a Christmas party and lots of other fun things.
We regularly host SiMBA Chat & Play sessions
(SiMBA are our official charity).
If there is anything you’d us to consider that we aren’t already doing, please let us know.
A Little About Us
TurtleDove Play Cafe is owned by Gordon Rigby, who has spent 25 years working in and around the hospitality industry. As Financial Controller with CEC-Catering since 1995 and then operating a Management Accounting business predominantly working with hospitality businesses in Edinburgh, Gordon is well versed in the running of businesses. In 2018, Gordon also purchased CEC-Catering and in 2020, opened The Garden Bistro in Saughton Park in Edinburgh.
TurtleDove is based on community, family, friendship and love. We’re as committed to keeping grown-ups as happy as the kids, and so we’re currently working to ensure our menus are filled with healthy, seasonal options (with the odd treat in there, too). We’re big believers in free play, that is to give kids a toy or a pirate ship and allow them to come up with games and scenarios on their own.
