Following on from our interview with Clare Dunne from Bambino Beats last month, this week we sat down with Zoe Young from Boogie Beat. Zoe runs two classes in TurtleDove Play Cafe each week, one on a Monday afternoon and one on a Friday morning.

Q1: How long have you run Boogie Beat?
I have been running Boogie Beat for just over two years and it really has been the best career decision I have ever made! We are now running up to 15 Boogie Beat classes and nursery and after school workshops weekly with regular parties almost every weekend. It truly has been an amazing career move. I have never looked back since leaving my corporate job. It’s great to finally have a good work and family life balance too.
Q2: Is it a national franchise or your own concept? How did it come about?
Boogie Beat music & movement is a national franchise. Nicky and Lisa the franchise owners started running Boogie Beat classes over 15years ago in Cheddar, Somerset. Now we run Boogie Beat classes all over the UK. I am the only franchisee in Scotland, however, we are currently recruiting for other Scottish franchisees to come on board. If any TurtleDove customers are interested in more information on how to become a franchise holder, please do get in touch.
Q3: Describe a typical Boogie Beat class.
Boogie Beat classes are great fun for children from 6months to 5years! Classes are based on traditional nursery rhymes and classical fairy tales, combined with a lively and active dance twist. Some of our themes include Little Red Riding Hood, the Gingerbread Man, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella to name a few… So much fun for both children and their carers! The classes are structured yet relaxed and educational but fun!
Q4: How long have you held classes at TurtleDove?
Boogie Beat classes have been running at TurtleDove for about a year and a half on Mondays 2-2:45pm and Fridays 9:30-10:15am. We love it here! We have also been involved in running Boogie Beat birthday parties at TurtleDove as well. Boogie Beat parties are just magical for little ones and TurtleDove is just the loveliest venue for families.
Q5: Why do you enjoy running classes at TurtleDove?
TurtleDove is a fantastic play café for children and their parents! As a mum, I often take my little boy here and he loves it. The staff are friendly, the coffee is good and the set up is just great for children. As for running Boogie Beat here, it doesn’t get much better! My customers love coming to a beautiful café, taking part in a fun class and then staying afterwards to enjoy free play and coffee/lunch with their little ones. It makes for such an easy and great day out for any family. 10/10!
When you book a Boogie Beat class at TurtleDove you also receive free, unlimited entry into our Play Cafe.
